KATI 5: Art Therapy Seminar:

Description: This course will examine the application of art therapy to the treatment of specific clinical issues with a variety of client populations. This seminar will explore therapeutic boundaries and ethics pertaining to art therapy.
Instructor: Lucille Proulx
Format: This course will be
comprised of lectures, videos, case studies, discussions, student and
guest presentations. Electives will be offered periodically. Elective
choices will vary each year and may include the use of Art Therapy in the
following areas: Family Therapy; Disability Issues; Addictions; Trauma and
Abuse; Grief & Loss.

reports. 6th edition. The Concise Rules of APA style.
Assignments and
Evaluation:
Paper 30%; presentation 20%,
ethics 30%, suicide assessment 10%, participation 10%. Paper
and presentation: To prevent duplication topics must be
approved by the instructor! 1.
A
paper 10 to 12 pages on the use of art therapy with a specific clinical
issue. The paper should use appropriate APA style for citations and
documentation. The paper should include: a) A clinical description of
the population, treatment issues, cultural considerations
b) Documented use of art
therapy & its specific benefits with this population;
c) Particular issues facing
art therapists d) Benefits or value of art
therapy. 2.
Presentation in class on the
paper/topic. (30 minute presentation and 15 minutes questions or
interactive activities.) Effective presentations might include:
a)
Visual aids (charts or
diagrams); b)
Interactive activities;
and/or a case
study.
